At Coloma we are proud of our tradition of musical excellence. Girls from Year 7 - 13 have opportunites to participate in singing for pleasure as well as formal singing lessons in class and during individual tuition. We believe that singing has many benefits including a positive impact on mental health and wellbeing so all pupils and learners are encouraged to participate in collective singing. In addition to our two chamber choirs (St Anthony's and St Cecilia's) Sixth form students run a Gospel choir which is open to all.
All pupils are encouraged to be couragous and try a new instrument when they start school at Coloma through individual tuition. However, all pupils will be given opportunities through the Music curriculum to try instuments that they may not already be familiar with and develop skills in instrumennts they may already have experience with. Girls who are already learning an instrument have opportunities to continue to do so through individual tuition and many go on to achieve the highest marks in their ABRSM exams.
