At Coloma Convent Girls' School, our academic curriculum is inclusive, engaging, and thoughtfully designed to meet the needs of students with diverse learning abilities and aspirations. We strive to challenge and inspire every learner by offering a broad and balanced program that nurtures curiosity, fosters critical thinking, and supports personal growth. Our curriculum aims to empower all students, whether they excel academically, thrive in creative pursuits, or need additional support to achieve their full potential and develop a lifelong love of learning.
All of our lessons are taught in 50 minute periods.
At Key Stage 3, students study core subjects (English, Mathematics, Religious Education and Science, including Biology, Chemistry and Physics) and an extensive array of humanities and arts subjects (Art & Design, Computer Science, Food Technology, Design & Technology, Drama, Languages, Geography, History, Music and Physical Education). Additionally, our Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education (PSHE) programme is taught as discreet lessons to highlight the importance of the content. Our students follow the Key Stage 3 curriculum in Years 7, 8 and 9.
Additionally, our Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education (PHSE) and Relationship and Sex Education (RSE) programme is taught as a core subject, equipping students with essential life skills.
PSHE/RSE is a subject through which students develop the knowledge, skills and attributes they need to manage their lives both now and in the future. It enables young people to stay healthy, safe and resilient, while preparing them to make the most of life and work.
Since September 2020, PSHE education has been statutory for all schools under the Children and Social Work Act 2017. The programme now includes:
